Eclipsed
I remember the drive back
Across the highway lanes
I just stared out the window
Trying to escape the pains.
We sat there in silence,
Not always good at talking,
I’m fine with avoidance –
Actually better at walking.
But there comes a time,
When fixed hurts more than unfixed,
And we’re too far in now,
For anything to be eclipsed.
I can’t fix who we are,
And I can’t always say it,
But deep down, I understand
The secrets you cannot admit.
The apologies we weren’t given
Can be the most important to accept,
I know we can move past the past,
Long as we keep it in check.
